On Thursday I made this for dessert, something I grew up with in Germany and one of my favorite ways to actually eat ice cream. Cause believe it or not, I do not eat that much ice cream usually, but since it was a friends birthday it was a perfect occasion.
You will need:
- vanilla ice cream
- whipped cream
- vanilla wafers for decorations if you want to decorate as seen in the picture
- raspberries
- sugar
Now, leave the ice cream in your freezer until you are ready to serve it -duh
put the raspberries (frozen or seasonal) into a medium pot. I had three packages of frozen ones since it is March and there are none around really. Turn the heat low, and let them cook/simmer down with the occasional stir in between.
They will turn into a sauce which you will have to sweeten after your own taste. I had to use quite a bit of sugar, but I never make them too sweet. My kids said they could have been a bit sweeter tho.
Once it is all cooked and hot, place some scoops of ice cream into a bowl, spread the sauce over it and decorate with whipped cream and the wafers. Maybe some chocolate flakes, or mint leave or what ever else you would want with it.
I love mine when the sauce melted the ice cream a little bit and the ice cream makes the sauce just sweeter on top of the sugar that is in it and it’s just deliscious…..
